New Writing Website: Factoidz.com

3 November 2009 No Comment
Factoidz is a UGC website that pays writers based on how many page views they accumulate, similar in structure to Mahalo.  They pay between $1.00 to $5.00 per 1000 page views for each article.
The pay rate for each article is determined by their editorial staff, and they shell out bigger payments for well researched content.
Factoidz is a fairly new website, and it’s hard to say how popular this website will become.  Writers who have used Factoidz say they are making decent money, and I really think it’s worth at least trying out.
Factoidz: How it Works
People can earn money on Factoidz by writing articles, submitting them, and then promoting them to garner page views.  Factoidz emphasizes that well researched, professionally written articles perform the best on their website.
Each article is reviewed by their editorial team, and they decide if the article qualifies for a low, medium, or high payout.  High quality articles that are written to SEO standards get the highest payout–$5.00 per 1000 page views–whereas generic articles get the lowest payout, or $1.00 per 1000 page views.
Once the articles are accepted, you wait for the page views to accumulate.  They recommend promoting it on social bookmarking websites, such as DIGG and Reddit, but you can promote however you like.
Factoidz: Advantages
There’s a lot to love about this site.  They emphasize community participation, which makes it seem like Maholo, another popular UGC website.  It differs from Mahalo because it takes literally minutes to learn how it works and how to submit.  Their highest payout is higher than Bukisa, another well known UGC website.
Other advantages include:
The freedom to write about any topic, as long as it isn’t too promotional.  Great place to write about how to prevent catching H1N1.  Bad place to promote your H1N1 prevention pill.
They focus on community, and the people are very helpful.  Factoidz also doubles as a community covering a variety of topics, from astrology to parenting.  Want to dish out the dirt about your homeschooling woes?  Join their community and let it all out.
You can republish content elsewhere after your article is accepted.  You can double your writing money by republishing your Factoidz article elsewhere, such as Associated Content or Bukisa.
Factoidz: Disadvantages
No website is without its disadvantages.  These disadvantages include:
Not many articles earn the high payout.  Your article may hit the medium or low categories frequently.
The article needs to be informational or instructional.  Opinion pieces are highly discouraged.
You must include the sources you used to write the article.  You need to list each source used at the end of the article too.  A slight pain, but this shouldn’t be difficult for any reputable writer.
Your article needs to be original.  It cannot already be published on other websites, although they do let you use your article on other websites after it is first published with them.
You only get paid once a month, through Paypal.  I wouldn’t depend on this site if you need regular cash, but it’s a great website for residual income.
Factoidz: Verdict
I have to say I really, really like this site.  The site is easy to navigate, I like how they determine payments, and it’s really easy to submit and publish articles with them.  Factoidz is still very new, so I wouldn’t put all of your eggs in one basket, but this is a great site to experiment with–especially if you are looking for a new website to earn residual income from.
