Review: Freelance Writing Online: A Guide for Beginners

First, let’s look at the synopsis:
If you are a brand new freelance writer who is wondering just how to get started, then this is the book for you. Written by Suzanne Alicie, a professional freelance writer, this book takes you step by step to your first published piece and offers plenty of advice about the steps you need to take in order to earn a living as an online freelance writer! – taken from freelancewriteronline.info/ebooks.html
What follows is a 22 page guide on how to streamline the process from writing amateur from writing professional, based on Alicie’s own experiences as an online freelance writer. Overall, the guide is fast, jargon-free reading. Alicie simplifies the painstaking process of setting up your business before you begin looking for clients, from choosing your pen name to promoting your finished work online.
Main points covered in Freelance Writing Online: A Guide for Beginners include:
- Choosing a pen name: the advantages, disadvantages and challenges of writing under a different name.
- Creating a sample profile paragraph to display your writing experience and portfolio, if applicable.
- The importance of diversifying your client work.
- How to a build a portfolio online cheaply and professionally .
At $7.95, this e-book is cheaper than most writing e-books; unfortunately, it contains far fewer pages compared to other e-books, such as The AC Source Book. The information found in Freelance Writing Online: A Guide for Beginners is invaluable, however, especially for those not familiar with the process of becoming a online freelance writer.
WJR’s recommendation: This e-book is essential reading for people transitioning from freelance amateur to professional. Several of the points discussed in Alicie’s book are rarely discussed on writing forums and websites, but Alicie covers it succinctly, using easy-to-understand language and simple tips for quick implementation.

Thank you for the review Ann. It is a pleasure to be featured on your site in any way, shape or form. This is my first e-book and areal learning experience. I believe it will be extremely helpful for new freelancers, and the length was calculated to deal with only the most basic elements of getting started as a freelance writer, in order to not overwhelm newbies and confuse them with too much information. The next books in the series will be long and much more in depth, for after the writers get started.
I completely understand, Suzanne. Thank you for letting me review your book, it was a pleasure!
This is getting a bit more subjective, but I much prefer the Zune Marketplace. The interface is colorful, has more flair, and some cool features like ‘Mixview’ that let you quickly see related albums, songs, or other users related to what you’re listening to. Clicking on one of those will center on that item, and another set of “neighbors” will come into view, allowing you to navigate around exploring by similar artists, songs, or users. Speaking of users, the Zune “Social” is also great fun, letting you find others with shared tastes and becoming friends with them. You then can listen to a playlist created based on an amalgamation of what all your friends are listening to, which is also enjoyable. Those concerned with privacy will be relieved to know you can prevent the public from seeing your personal listening habits if you so choose.
