Demand Studios Tutorials: What is Demand Studios?
Demand Studios is a media content company that distributes high quality content to numerous websites, including Livestrong.com, eHow, and Trails.com. Demand Studios hires editors and freelance writers to perfect the content for distribution, earning it a top spot amongst websites looking for high quality content.
In writing circles Demand Studios is known as one of the best paying writing websites –and one of the hardest to adapt to.
How Demand Studios Differs
Unlike other writing website such as Associated Content or Bukisa, Demand Studios specifically hires content writers to write high quality content about a plethora of subjects. Demand Studios is not considered a UGC website because the content is not freely written and submitted by writers. Instead, they contract writers and editors to create content for worldwide distribution.
Demand Studios demands high quality work from their writers, making their standards difficult for novice writers to adapt to. Writers must adapt to a nearly APA writing style while writing direct, actionable content for article approval. Writers must also cite several sources used to create the content.
The payoff, however, is substantial enough. Demand Studios pays $15 per accepted article, which nets most writers a steady $15 to $30 per hour. Demand Studios could easily supplement a full time income.
The Pros of Demand Studios
There are many pros for Demand Studios writers.
- You learn how to write high quality, information rich content without all the fluff. Bad articles are never accepted by Demand Studios, forcing writers to write high quality content meeting their editorial standards.
- The payment (and work) is steady. Articles have stayed at $15 per article for a while, and it does not appear this will change. There are thousands of articles available to write at Demand Studios. Better yet, new articles trickle it every week, increasing the availability of articles to choose from.
- You learn how to research well. Demand Studios requires listed references for each article, and it can’t be just any blog spouting off nonsense. Editors require well trusted sources, such as medical websites, official United States organizations, or highly respected websites. Poorly written blogs or spammy websites are almost never accepted.
The Cons of Demand Studios
Many writers hear about the cons of Demand Studios. These disadvantages are not as bad as writers make it out to be, however.
- The editors are often blunt and to the point. In other words, editors don’t sugarcoat. They tell you exactly what’s wrong with your article, even if it’s something as simple as a couple of grammar mistakes or an improperly credited reference. If even one thing is wrong, expect the editor to send it back for a rewrite. Demand Studios is not known for its leniency.
- You must adapt to a strict writing style. Demand Studios follows APA formatting and a direct, actionable writing style. They do not favor content filled with fluff, little to no facts, or passive writing. You need to follow all of their guidelines to a T for continued article acceptance.
Demand Studios: Is it Worth It?
If you are a somewhat established web writer who knows about SEO, effective web writing, and how to research quickly, you will excel at Demand Studios. This is not the place for the beginning writer to learn about writing for the web–oftentimes, Demand Studios will reject the articles or send the writer packing within months.
If you already know how to write effectively, however, the payoff potential is limitless. You can also improve your web writing skills by sticking to their guidelines.
